My Country Cupboard

I have had a long time love affair with cupboards.  Wood or painted, pristine or falling apart, I love them.  My husband can certainly attest to this.  When he is forced to antique shop with me, he goes his way to look at books or anything that will keep him entertained while I go my way.  When we meet back up, I drag him around to ooh! and aah! at all the wonderful cupboards.  He does his best to be impressed.  Unfortunately all I ever do is ooh! and aah! because of the prices.  When I found this cupboard on Craigs list for a great price, I snatched it up. It was not painted, but I took care of that.

I filled the cupboard with my still growing collection of ironstone.  I definitely have room for more.  Darn it, I guess I will have to go shopping.

Tucked here and there in the cupboard are old recipes.   I bought an old recipe box at an estate sale.  I just love all the hand written recipes.  There were also recipes clipped from newspapers eighty years ago.

When I got home from the sale, I sat down and went through the entire box.  So much fun.

I guess handwritten recipes passed from friend to friend are now a thing of the past.

Well, that's my country cupboard.  If I could, I think I would replace all the kitchen cabinets with cupboards.  I told you, I love them!

  1. That is gorgeous. I am in the market for an old hutch or cupboard like this. I love that you painted it white and your ironstone looks great in it. One of my biggest treasures from my mom who is gone now 15 years, is her hand-written recipes. I do still hand-write them and pass them on to my kids. Deb

  16. I've been surfing on-line more than three hours as of late, but I never discovered any fascinating article like yours. It's beautiful price enough for me.
In my opinion, if all website owners and bloggers made
good content material as you probably did, the net can be a lot more
    helpful than ever before.
